Oを〜してもらう、Oを〜される have/get + O + 過去分詞

have/get + O + 過去分詞でOを〜してもらう、Oを〜される 。
  • I had my shoes repaired.
  • My son got his arm broken while playing soccer.

have getに大きな違いはないが、口語ではgetが多い。
また、専門的技術によって何かをしてもらう場合はhaveが、
思いがけず何かをされた場合はgetが用いられる。

lately、recently、nowadays、these daysの違い

lately

最近、近ごろ、このごろ
現在を含む最近。

通常は現在完了形と共に用いられる。
We haven't seen her lately.

現在形、現在進行形とは原則的に用いないが、I'm not feeling well lately. のように習慣的反復行為や現在までの継続状態を表す場合には現在形を用いる。

過去形で用いるのは結果が現在まで継続状態にある場合のみ。
I lately moved into this house.

イギリス英語では通例否定文、疑問文にはlately、肯定文にはrecentlyを用いるが、アメリカ英語では区別しない。

recently

ついこのあいだ、先ごろ、つい最近

過去の事を述べる。現在完了形、過去形、過去完了形で用いる。
現在形には通常用いない。
He got promoted recently.
I bought this shirt recently.


nowadays

(過去と比べて)近ごろ、今日では、最近は

thesedaysより堅い表現。
現在形、現在進行形で用いる。
Nowadays many people travel abroad.


these days

(過去と比べて)近ごろ、今日では、最近は

現在形、現在進行形で用いる。
I don't smoke much these days.

現在進行形で用いると、いつまでも続くわけではないが、ある一定期間それをし続ける意味合いになる。
I am watching baseball games these days.

but、though、althoughの違い

but

等位接続詞。butの前後が内容的に対立する。
I had a fever , but I went to the party.

though、although

譲歩(~とはいえ、たとえ~でも)を表し、副詞節と導く従位接続詞。
実際には成立することを述べるときに用いる。
Thoug (Although) I had a fever, I went to the party.

althoughの方が堅い表現。
強調表現はeven thoughを使う。

for、during、in 期間を表す単語の違い

for

ものごとが継続した期間の長さを表す。
He went to London for three year.

during

「冬のあいだ」のようにどのような期間なのかを表す。前置詞のため直後に名詞を取る。
I wake up early during the summer.

in

ものごとをするのに必要な時間を表す。
I have to finish my homework in a few days.

have to do with ~ ~と関係がある

have to do with

Oと関係がある have to do with O
The letter has to do with him.

have much(*1) to do with O Oと大いに関係がある。
*1にはsomething,anything,much,littleなどで関係性の程度を表す。

choiceとselectの違い

choice

自由意志により、単に自分が欲しいものを選択する場合に使用。
selectよりも選択範囲が狭い。

select

多くのものの中から最高のものを入念に選ぶときに使う。

made ofとmade fromの違い

made of ~

そのものが~から出来ていることが見て分かる(原形をとどめている)場合。
This chais is made of wood.

made from ~

そのものが~から出来ていることが見て分からない(原形をとどめていない)場合
This prastic is made from oil.

had better +動詞の原型「~しなさい」

had better + 動詞の原型

 で「~しなさい」「~したほうがいい」「~しなければいけない」
×had better to は誤り。

否定形は had better not
×had not better~ は誤り。

must notとdon't have toの違い

must not

~してはいけない、という禁止を表す。

don't have to

~する必要はない、という不必要を表す。
need notdon't need toで表すことも出来る。

mustとhave toの違い

must

現在、未来の義務や必要を表す。
I must study English.のように話し手の決意を表す場合もある。

また、You must eat takoyaki when you come to Osaka.
のように強く勧めるmustもある。

have to

規則、周囲の状況などによって発生した義務や必要を表すことが多い。
I have to go now.
口語体では have got to という表現も使われる。

must現在時制でしか使えないため、過去の義務had to未来の義務will have toで表す。

many, much, a lot of, lots ofの違い

many,much


manymuch主に疑問文と否定文で使用。
ただし、manyが主語を修飾するときには肯定文でも使用可。
例)Many people were there.

many が多いことを表し、数えられない名詞に使用する。

much が多いことを表し、数えられない名詞に使用する。

a lot of, lots of


a lot of, lots of通常肯定文で用いられる。
どちらも数えられる名詞にも数えられない名詞にも使用できる。

lots ofの方がa lot ofにくらべてくだけた表現である。
plenty ofもa lot of, lots ofと同様に使用可能。
